I *heart Eyepieces Saturday - October 27, 2007

Filed under: Dailies, News, Random — xrynx @ 4:17 pm

Dear All,

I’ve been having exams, yeah. So sue me :P

Oh, and I had my Cambridge interview for law yesterday. It was hell. He asked me a lot of recent events questions. I don’t quite remember what we talked about now that I’m over the adrenalin rush… we talked a little bit about Malaysia’s judiciary system, being a judge, whether i’d get bored practising law, donkeys and politicians… ohmaaaan. My advice? Whoever’s going for a law interview has got to be able to 1) think on their feet, and 2) be reasonably pretty well read.

Today... I woke up really early to go to Uncle Kenny’s optical shop. Glad to say that my eyesight hasn’t worsened since the last time. And I can’t believe myself, but I got a lot of neat eyepieces =D Hehehe.. I got a pair of white specs, and a pair of red specs. BOTH half frame, BOTH with leather handles. Leather. The white one has a red edge, and the red one has a white edge. I finally have something in the combination of red, white and black!!! (my current pair of glasses is black :P ). I’m also getting coloured contacts… one hazel pair and one green pair. wooot. I think the green pair would look a lot better on me if I had my original jet black hair though. Hmmm…..

In the meantime, I’ve been eyeing THIS baby. A darling pair of Oakley specs, black and metallic blood-red. It has inscriptions on the side that look like roses. omg. I fell in love. But i saw the price tag and I put it back. Quad-digits I just can’t afford.

I did, however, get to bring back a little memento with me ;P

So? Whatcha think? hehehe. Oh. man. The thing I’d buy if I had the money.

Now that I have my glasses in red, white and black, I’d better get to talking to mom about a that cheongsam… hehe.

In other news... Sheffield’s offered me a place to study Law!!… on the condition that I get AAB for my A-Levels. Manchester University too, But they offered me AAA and band 7.0 or higher for IELTS. Hmm…

Tomorrow… Lord knows. But the way my life is going so far, I simply can’t wait (:

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: Porridge and fish, a cup of milo. Later tonight, we’re going to Prime to celebrate my dad’s belated birthday (We had to postpone cos of my exams … *sniff*
  • Procrastinate-ds: statistics. Better do a couple papers…
  • Carrocolada: Red, white and black!!! Oooooh. I know what I want my engagement ring to look like. Maybe I should get a black playboy cap/shoes to complete my ensemble.. (CANT DO THE SPECIAL E ERRGHHH)
  • What’s on the cake: Futurama, Mario and Luigi Travel in Time (or something. Don’t remember the name, I just play the game :P )

Toodles,

NOW REPRINTING: BACK ISSUES OF The Daily Rabbit! Monday - October 22, 2007

Filed under: Dailies, News, feature — xrynx @ 10:34 pm

Dear All,

Actually, today’s heading just means that I’ll be recapping what happened over the weekend while I was away. No, wait, keep reading, I’ve had a very eventful weekend, I promise. Now let’s see..

Friday, 19th October 2007… Woke up with a rotten headache. Not the stabbing, want-to-die kind (yet) but the lingering, aching kind. The kind that feels like you have an elephant trying its hardest to take up lodgings in your hippocampus. Slept the previous night at 12 AM, and woke up at 12PM, so was having trouble trying to convince myself that the headache was because I just wasn’t sleeping enough. Got up anyway and headed over to college for hiphop dance.

Hiphop dance CANCELLED. Attendance: Four. Didn’t bother staying for Latin. I followed my brother to the dentist while he got his braces tightened, and then we came straight home. The elephant in my brain seemed to be trying to move in the furniture now, so I popped an aspirin and slept again, from five to eight thirty, whereupon I woke up, ate dinner, and went back to bed, not feeling any better.

Mom comes back at around eleven and after I exhaust myself still further by describing to her in detail the purple elephant and his enormous pipe organ and coat rack, she tells me that headaches can also be caused by sleeping too much.

Stayed up til 4 AM playing Digimon Dusk and 300.

Saturday, 20th October 2007… Woke at seven to the sound of dad coming home (he just came back from Australia on a business trip). Felt much better, physically. Elephant seems to have settled in nice and cosy. I think I’ll call him George. Got up, played some more until about ten-ish. Then packed bags and VCDs and toiletries and stuff, and shoved all this and my family members (and George) into the van.

After which, I drove all the way down to Johor. Yes, Johor. I cannot begin to tell you the differences on my parents’ faces between leaving home and arriving at our destination, nor can I find the words to describe my harrowing near-death experiences while crossing the… uh… Titiwangsa Range? (I dunno if that’s the right name for it). My legs were like jelly after driving for several hours, my nerves were on the verge of frying. Poor George. After checking in and dumping our stuff in the room, we went down for a walk by the beach. The sand was very smooth (although the water very black), and we had lots of fun drawing figures in the sand and taking pictures.

By the way, I’m not exactly sure where it was I drove to. I think it was Rompin? Near the Endau Rompin reserve. We considered going for a nature hike, but the beaten path had strayed from its original intended course, and so we marched across the compound (in the rain) for dinner instead.

Settled in for the night after a horrifying fashion show (the kind where the emcee england vely powderful indeeded).

Sunday, 21st October 2007… Got up, had a breakfast that was absolutely lovely as compared to the previous nights’ dinner (although the dessert was… entertaining), and then off to the room to pack.Checked out at twelve. Dad drove home.

Here are some pics taken during the trip. Okay, it’s not much, but most of the  pics are on my dad’s Nikon Camera, and I’m too lazy to go upload them. Maybe once my dad’s uploaded them to his computer I’ll go st.. er, borrow them.

No seriously. They pummeled it into the ground. Really!!

Lunch. HUGE prawns (there are three there).

And just to compare how huge they are…

O.o

dessert *drool*

And now, Today… Woke up wanting a mat-salleh boyfriend (???) after a very disconcerting and unusual (but funny, now that I think about it) dream. This craving disappeared when the internet came back, which prompted me to go online and google ‘+hotties +guys’ just for kicks. It was at that point that I realized that Chinese guys can be pretty hot too. It was also at this point that I realized that hot guys are (to me) just eye candy. I prefer guys that look the gentlemanly type. :) Aw hell, I’ve always known that.

I finished up my Chemistry syllabus and half my physics syllabus. My brother tried to freak me out by trying to convince me that my exam is TOMORROW instead of THE DAY AFTER. The saddest (and scariest) part is that I very nearly actually believed him.

Tomorrow… The forecast calls for more alone time at home with my physics and chemistry. And of course, old Georgie, who is now a member of the family. *grunt*

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: A cup of milo, a plate of rice, chicken and broccoli, a bag of strawberry biscuits, rice + potato + cauliflower, banana cake (which I made :D )
  • Procrastinate-ds: nothing. You think I’d dare…???
  • Carrocolada: SONYDSCT200……..!!
  • What’s on the Cake: Digimon Dusk (DS); 300

Ta now. Trying to beat this effing rhino that stands between me and the end of my game.

Beepbeeptadabeeptoot,

Dear All,

Yesterday… I didn’t get to blog.. actually I didn’t get to do anything much… because I never got home til about ten-ish-eleven PM, and by then I was far too exhausted and worried to death about my physics practical (which went very well today, thank goodness) to blog. What happened was, I left college with my aunt at about eleven in the morning. Went to her place and stayed for a bit, playing my PSP. the plan was, at 4 she’d pick my little brother up from school (along with her daughter, my cousin, of course) and later in the evening we’d go to my grandma’s place in Setapak and mom would pick us up from there. Both drivers were on Raya leave, and dad’s overseas on business. Mom works in KL, so it’s nearer to Setapak than it is to USJ. Mom said she’d show at 5:30, 6. She didn’t get there til about 8. Then she hung around and talked with her mother til around 9.. and THEN we left.

So here’s a short version of what held mom up.

After my brother called her at 5 to say we were on the way to our grandma’s house, mom thought she’d very quickly finish up one letter. And she worked, and worked and worked (her phone died somewhere in the middle of all that working. it’s one of those smart-phones that can be programmed to go on silent every couple hours and shit like that) and some **** client kept her and her staff in the office til eight. The fact that we couldn’t reach her (she shifted office recently, and the building’s new so it doesn’t have many landlines. Also, my mom’s office was directly facing the sunlight in the daytime, so she had closed the curtains and didn’t realize how dark it was outside) just made things worse. Then she came to my grandma’s place and the only thing that kept me from nagging her about being late and wanting to go home is thinking about how when I’m her age, I don’t want my daughter nagging me while I’m busy talking to MY mother-whom-I-Havent-Seen-In-Ages, and especially after a long day’s work and some troublesome ***** clients.

Right.

Today… as we all know, every now and then I get a pining for some new-fangled techtoy I’ve seen in the paper or in the window or on the telly. This time, ladies and gents, its……

TADAA!!! THE SONY DSC-T200!!!!!! WOOT!

lols. the things my room would be filled with if I had the money.

Other than that, physics practical was okay. It was weird though. Filled with uncertainties (no pun intended), confusion and a lot of problems. Still. It was okay. Don’t quite think my opinions are suitable for public view. Okay now I’m crapping. I can always tell when I’m crapping cos my sentences come out kinda incomplete and stuff and they seem to be getting nowehere in particular to the average reader cos I think faster than I type and the words 1. Don’t come out right, 2. Don’t come out in the order that they should.

Spending a lot of time with 300 lately. Nothing much otherwise.

Tomorrow… Holiday. whee. Study. Aw.

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: I forgot. Really.
  • Procrastinate-ds: Studying CHem!!!
  • Carrocolada: Sony Cybershot DSC-T200
  • What’s on the Cake: 300

Maths P1 Exam Tuesday - October 16, 2007

Filed under: Dailies, News, Random, exam — xrynx @ 11:41 pm

Dear All,

Today… I freaked. I did 3 maths past year papers (even though I finished them all already) and I’ve been reading through the rest just to make sure I don’t get caught off guard by any unfamiliar questions tomorrow. Maths is supposed to be an easy-A…. I would be so disappointed to get anything less than 100. I’m not saying I’m some incredible  genius or anything… but it would only be a waste of my efforts and time and energy if I couldn’t score for this one paper.

I’m going to bed now.

Tomorrow… Maths P1. Be strong, let’s get through this. We’ll do it like always and come out just the same… satisfied and hungry for more.

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: 2 cups of milo; Homecooked Lunch & Dinner; half a tin of potato chips (while studying)
  • Procrastinate-ds: reading physics, maybe.
  • Carrocolada: Time.
  • What’s on the cake: Persona 3, Harvest Moon Boy&Girl

“Half-Hols, is it? Can’t wait to get that bat in your hand, give those balls a good whalloping..” Monday - October 15, 2007

Filed under: Dailies, Random — xrynx @ 6:38 pm

Dear All,

Today… I learnt to appreciate myself a little more. Just a little. But I’m getting somewhere.

Our study break recently started. I haven’t been blogging much coz now’s the time of year when people are busy with exams (including me) and I’m trying to make the most out of my hol… errrr study break. Okay, okay. But my next exams are maths P1 and physics practical (for which is impossible to study for =.=”). The week after that, I have Physics Multiple Choice Q and Chemistry Structure *shiver* … Maybe I’d better start studying now. But it’s so difficult to concentrate! What didn’t help was that the Chem Practical (which was WAY easier than expected) is filling me full of hot air. I know I’m going to regret this, and I’m trying my hardest to remind myself how tough the exam papers can be before D-day. So far, no such success. I have decided to do a paper on Math after this, though. Just one paper. Tomorrow  I’ll do two. Then maybe if I feel bored I’ll get started on Chemistry. The structure paper will kill me, I know it.

Went to Sungei Wang today. Got the game 300 for PSP, and some Zelda game for the DS for my little sister. I think it was Zelda and the Phantom hourglass or something. And today was the last day for Body Glove’s 50% storewide discount sale. I got 2 shirts wheeee ~*\(^o^)/#*

They’re collared, but they look reallllly hot. I’ll post piccies maybe tomorrow. I don’t know why, but I always thought I looked better in collared shirts than those low-cut ones. Then again, that’s just the impression I have of myself. Others tell me I look old =~=

In other news… I finished a video game in the last 5 days.  Super Paper Mario for the Wii. :D Sooooo cute. The ending was super touching and sweet, and nearly made me cry. Then again, I cry easy bwahahaa. Speaking of games, I am SO getting Resident Evil for the Wii when it comes out… the latest one, Umbrella Corporation, is due mid-November. I’ve heard it’s an on rail shooter. This’ll be a fun game to play, esp if there are co-op functions :D <3

I’m going to reformat my laptop this weekend. It’s always been giving me a problem ever since that **** Trojan got into it, but when it decides to infect my **** Sims 2 saved files and videos and images and data files and **** decides that it’s going to **** prevent the **** game from **** running, well….. *cocks machine gun* it’s the last straw. No one. messes. with. my. game files.

*BREATHE IN**BREATHE OUT**BREATHE IN*….

Ri’then. I’m going to continue watching Fatal Frame III on youtube (yes I’m a sissy when it comes to ghosts and the like. So sue me.) and then smackdown our new 300.

Oh but before that…

Tomorrow… Will be the eve of my Maths P1 test. To quote one of our teachers… “As further maths students, it’s embarrassing to revise P1″. Lol. Maybe it’s about time I started reading up on chemistry though. I like physics. Don’t really have to study as much as chemistry. It’s like maths, only with more words and more thinking involved. Oh. And I think I really need to cut my fingernails.

For your opinion… I am actually thinking of changing the title of this blog. I’ve had a little more time to be more active in game forums and blogs and I realize that far too many people out there than I’d like are STILL stereotyping gamers. Apparantly, ‘girls have no place in the gaming world‘, and ‘games for girls are wasted when only cool guys really spend money on games‘ and ‘ harvest moon is for girls, us REAL gamers oughta hit up DMC 4 omg im so waiting for it wtf noob‘. =.= jackass, man.  So yeah, maybe I’ll take that fish on my header and put him in front of a video console. Call this the diary of the female gamer or something like that. hah.

Okay, okay. I’m really going now.

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: A cup of milo, beef teppanyaki; iced lemon tea; chocolate biscuits. Haven’t had dinner yet.
  • Procrastinate-ds: STUDYYYYYYYYYY
  • Carrocolada: A happy ever after!!! :D
  • What’s on the Cake: Fatal Frame III; 300.

White Rabbit + Seal Slaughter + Genting Trip RANT Tuesday - October 9, 2007

Filed under: Emo, News, Random — xrynx @ 10:18 pm

Dear All,

Sorry about the very very unrecent updates. The day after my post saying that I’d re-recent my blogging, the internet went all kaputty on me. and then AFTER that I had to take a couple more days off because the bugs came back. Well they’re gone again now. Maybe if I just stopped exerting myself everytime the virus gives me a break, I’d actually get better faster. But I can’t help it! I’m already hyper by nature, and putting a hyper person in bed for three weeks tends to make them go crazy.

Today… I lent borrowed a book from Mr Leonard. A comic called Bone. I sooooooooooooooo want to read more! bwahahaha. Ooh, and my mom’s friend Uncle Ara has my comics in US with him, and he’s bringing them home in November! =D Will post piccies when I get them.

I got an email forward today about White Rabbit candy. It’s been said to contain traces of formaldehyde and so has been retracted from the Phillipine market (This I got from googling the topic), which is pretty damned sad because I really love that sweet :( and China has been selling it since 1943 and now someone suddenly realizes that there are traces of formaldehyde in it?? A bit weird right.. I can’t help but wonder why Made-In-China products have suddenly come under fire a lot more than usual lately…

This incident happened early this year, in July. The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia on the matter:

“Philippine Laboratory Test for Formalin

The Philippine food and drugs claimed that the candies contain formalin. The manufacturer of the White Rabbit, Guan Sheng Yuan, cited an independent report by the Shanghai branch of SGS-CSTC, a joint-venture under the Swiss-based SGS Group, the world’s largest inspection and testing company, as saying that samples of the White Rabbit ready to be exported overseas and tested on Wednesday contained no toxic substances. [6]. Singapore’s Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) stated that the White Rabbit Creamy Candy from China is safe for consumption after conducting tests on it. [7]

On July 24, 2007, the local distributor of White Rabbit bowed to a BFAD recall order from the Philippine market. BFAD met Tuesday with representatives of Cheng Ban Yek and Co. Inc. to discuss the firm’s pull out strategy. BFAD officials gave Cheng Ban Yek 15 days to implement the recall, and to submit progress reports every three days, but the latter asked for more time because of the number of places where the products can be bought.”

Yeah. and here’s a new report link:

http://www.china.org.cn/english/business/217838.htm

I then got a SECOND email forward showing some really gruesome pictures of seal hunting as a sport in Canada. I thought it was another hoax email sent by some jackass with too much free time… Until I did a Newsweek/Wiki/Google search and found out that the story was true… although the pictures themselves might have been fabricated. The worst part was when i came across this quote on one of the sites I found:

“I would like to see the 6 million seals, or whatever number is out there, killed and sold, or destroyed and burned. I do not care what happens to them. The more they kill the better I will love it.” — John Efford, former Canadian Minister of Natural Resources, addressing the Newfoundland House of Assembly, in 1998.

Right. Now, I don’t think I have to be a diehard animal lover to think that he’s a damned jackass sadist. What, was he mauled by a seal in his younger years?? Rape, maybe. Or they stole his favourite fish dinner, I dunno. Okay, so I’m being a bit emotional and a bit bitchy here. But seriously, who makes a public comment like that and expects to get away with it?

This is where I found it, by the way:

http://www.hartfordadvocate.com/article.cfm?aid=3398

Of course, this website seems to me a littttle biased towards animal rights activists. But still. Google it yourself, if you wanna know more. Oh, but the pictures at the ends of the email forward about the seal hunting sport? Word on the net is those aren’t real, or are really old photos and are meant to… well, stir up whatever anger you may have inside you, if the seal pictures weren’t bloody enough. But I dunno. And here’s the address for a forum that’s small, but offers a more balanced point of view, of course: http://www.flickr.com/groups/naturegroup/discuss/72057594084101586/

In other news: Field trips!!!!! Well not now, but after the exams. Nov 24 to 25, going up Genting with Munn and Yee Lin. <3. I have never been to the outdoor theme park. And then 9th of December = off to JAPAN!! bwahahaha.

Oh. My classmates are going up Genting after the exams too. But they didn’t invite me. :( How sad. Haha. No seriously. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t upset or disappointed about it, and I’m not going to hide that from them, neither am i going to shove it in their faces. I mean honestly, I can’t help but wonder if they forgot about me. Or if I’m just not that significant as everyone else. Still, I try to think about it this way: It’s their Moral group outing. Okay, that’s somewhat understandable. I wasn’t in their group for the project after all. But then I found out that some of their own group members didn’t know about the trip and are not going. What the hey.

I actually found out weeks ago, when Thomas casually mentioned it in front of me. Then I caught Si Wei, Kar Wye and Jun Hau talking about a trip to see the Black Eyed Peas (in Genting) and when I asked them about it they got alllll quiet on me. Well fine. I know some of my other friends have told me to just go along, go along… but firstly, if they wanted me there or didn’t mind me tagging along, theyve had more than one friggin chance to ask me. Secondly, even if I had said no, it’s the thought that they’re thinking about me/enjoy my company that counts.

So screw it. You guys can go to Genting without me, and I honestly hope you all have a whizzy-jolly time up there. And for those of you who are thinking of telling me, “So what, you’re going there too anyway, and at the same time we are”, or “it’s just Genting, you’re not missing anything”…. you obviously don’t know just how much I value our friendship and the time we spent together during out ten months as classmates and family.

And don’t. You. DARE. tell me that omigosh you’re so emo no wonder you need guys haha you girls. I will SLAP you in your ***** face for such a chauvinist comment. I never mention it, but I hate it when people use a tag like emo on me that way. Everytime I feel upset or I need a little comfort or some company, I’m emoing.GOD can’t you people be a little more sympathetic?? But I forgive and forgive and forgive and take it all in and when I decide to let it out I’m emoing again. Sometimes I wish you people would spend a day in MY shoes. Hell yeah, I know YOU have problems. But you don’t see me going all sarcastic and screwy on you when I see that YOU’RE upset.

Okay. That was a rant.

Tomorrow… No college. I’m staying home for self study. Chem practical on Thursday.

Daily…

  • Consumable-ds: One soft-boiled egg, one cup milo, one plate fried rice, one bowl of porridge, one packet of milk.
  • Procrastinate-ds: Studying.
  • Carrocolada: The Sims 2 Bon Voyage; Bone; Honey; A Holiday.
  • What’s on the Cake: MySims; Cooking Mama; Harvest Moon Boy&Girl.
